Sports First Aid Courses

Are you a football coach, a gym instructor, a member of an athletics or swimming club, or just the parent of an active kid? We can provide training in first aid that looks specifically at the kind of accidents and injuries that can happen in the sporting arena.

Most sporting injuries are minor. Our sports first aid courses cover things like joint and muscle injuries, sprains, strains, bruises, and all kinds of problems that might come up anywhere people are pushing their bodies hard. Often the right training in first aid can go a long way towards reducing the severity of sports injuries and getting the casualties back out on the field in good form more quickly. We also discuss and train you in how to deal with hypo- and hyperthermia, two common problems in any outdoor activity.

The sports first aid courses also cover more serious injuries too. While these are much less common than sprains and strains, any sport can be dangerous and it is absolutely imperative that there is a trained first aider standing by every rugby match and at every school sports day.

Fractures and dislocations are covered and so are head and spinal injuries and resuscitation. In the latter cases, first aid can be a lifesaver or prevent permanent and serious disability, and is not just a matter of convenience. Hopefully, very few of our students will ever need to use these skills, but if the worst should happen, they’ll know what to do and what not to do.
