First Aid Skills Update for OH Professionals

This one day course is designed specifically for OH professionals in conjunction with Safety First Aid Training.

In 2009 the HSE made sweeping changes to the provision of workplace first aid training.

One of the main changes to the requirements is that employees' first aid skills are updated on a regular basis after initial certification as first aiders. This skills update will take the form of an annual refresher course. The HSE has specifically stated that these annual refresher courses may be run by "competent in-house occupational health professionals"

This informative and practical course is designed to brief OH professionals involved in the provision of first aid training on the changes to the statutory courses and help to equip them to to be able to deliver the new one day annual refresher course in their workplace

In addition to the briefing; the course will cover the practical aspects of first aid will refresh practitioner's skills in the following areas;

Assessing the situation in an emergency
Administering First Aid to an unconscious casualty
Administering CPR, update on protocol and practical activity
First Aid for a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
Appropriate treatment for casualty in shock

Finally there will be a Question and Answer session with our qualified First Aid instructor, giving you the opportunity to ask questions related to the days training, or to find out more about the role of a First Aid instructor and their top tips on instructing First Aid Courses.

The course will run from 9.30am until 3.15pm and include lunch and refreshments
